The Supreme Court today rejected appeals filed by the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who was sentenced to five years imprisonment for corruption and her appeal to the High Court against the sentence. So the BNP chairperson should stay in jail for a few more days.
On the announcement of the verdict on Thursday, his lawyer Abdur Razzak Khan told reporters, "I have written an application to get the attested copies of the verdict." If we get the copy of the verdict, we will appeal this case on Sunday. We sought a photocopy of the verdict along with the judge's signature. If we get it, we will appeal.
Khaleda's lawyers appealed to the court to get the certified copy of the same day.
It may be mentioned here that on Thursday, BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was given five years imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
