Sajib Khan: BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was taken to the old Dhaka Central Jail after she was sentenced to 5 years in jail in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case. In the case, his son Tarique Rahman and four others have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of 20 million and 71 thousand takas to everyone including Begum Zia.

Judge of Special Judge Court-5 at Bakshibazar on Thursday afternoon. Md Akhtaruzzaman gave this verdict. Begum Zia will appeal against this verdict in a higher court.

The other four convicted in this case are MP Kazi Salimul Haque Kamal, businessman Sharfuddin Ahmed, sub-secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Kamal Uddin Siddiqui and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, nephew Mominur Rahman.

After the pronouncement of the verdict, the lawyer of Khaleda Zia said, the appeal will be made after receiving the copy of the verdict.

The main accused in the case while presenting the verdict on Thursday was present along with Khaleda Zia, former MP Qazi Salimul Haque Kamal, businessman Sharfuddin Ahmed, businessman Sharfuddin Ahmed.

Earlier on January 25, the court fixed the date for the verdict on the arguments of the prosecution and the prosecution of 16 days.
