Faridpur district has increased flower cultivation day by day. Farmers are interested in cultivating flowers due to less capital gain. Already commercially started 'Gladiolus' flower cultivation has started commercially. And the Agriculture Department says that flowers are more profitable than other crops. Besides, many farmers have already become self-reliant in flower cultivation in Bhairabo. As a result, employment has been created by many unemployed young people.
Faridpur district is suitable for soil and weather, flowering is increasing day by day. Flowers have been cultivated in different areas of Malikpur, Pirpur, Sivarampur, Hatgavindapur, and Paranpur in Sadar upazila. Not only the foreign 'Gladiolus' flowers are cultivated but there is a wide cultivation of flowers including rose, Mandrake, and residue. There is more demand for flowers, freedom, victory, mother tongue, first falgun and love day. Farmers are risking flowering due to the profit of double and tripled other than other crops.
According to Faridpur Agricultural Extension Department, this year about 2 hectares of land have been cultivated in different varieties.
On the other hand, various types of flower-colored flower cultivars have been developed in several places including Bhairab Chandibi, Goshamara, Kalipur, Kamalpur. In this region, flowers are cultivated and sold on a commercial basis. Someone is selling saplings alongside flowers and is benefiting. This has created employment for many.
Planting of flower cultivation is increasing day by day in cooperation with the Agriculture Office. The Upazila agricultural officer said that it is possible to earn Tk one lakh to Tk 150,000 per bigha.
