People remember the heroes of the nation who died for the Bengali language. People from all walks of life are honored with flowers in central Shaheed Minar.
Different socio-cultural organizations are revered by the flowers on the Shaheed altar. From morning to morning festivities, people of various classes and profession came to pay tribute. Foreigners also came to Central Shaheed Minar to give flowers.
Several political leaders including Awami League also gave floral tributes to the martyrs. During this time, the Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader demanded recognition of Bangla as the official language of the United Nations immediately.
